Duncan Bannatyne has revealed his newborn grandchild had to receive extra care after doctors and nurses treated her for two days amid Covid-19 concerns.
The former Dragon’s Den star said the little girl was born at University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton-on-Tees in Durham.
In a tweet, he thanked medics for treating his granddaughter, who was born with what he described as an ‘upper respiratory virus’ and had to be tested for COVID-19.
But the businessman, 71, who shares four daughters, Hollie, Abigail, Jennifer and Eve, with his first wife Gail and another two children, Emily and Thomas, with second wife Joanna, added that his latest grandchild ‘mercifully’ tested negative.

The multi-millionaire, who has now moved back to his £5 million home in Portugal for the rest of his isolation, also revealed that the little girl was one of two grandchildren which has been born in the last six weeks.
The first was born in Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary earlier this month.
The father of six wrote: ‘Thank you Thank you Thank you everyone at University Hospital of North Tees for looking after my baby granddaughter who arrived suffering from an upper respiratory virus & stayed with you for 2 nights.
‘Mercifully her test for Covid was negative & she went home fit & well today.’

After one fan commented how special the NHS workers were, he said: ‘They certainly are, second time in seven days they have looked members of my family and done so very very well.
‘I have an American friend who got ill in UK. They saved his life and he was very grateful.
‘He asked where he should pay his bill and when he was told it was free he could not believe. He is well insured and would have claimed back from his insurers.’

Last week, Mr Bannatyne took to Twitter to announce his other granddaughter’s birth.
He wrote: ‘Thank you NHS & Everyone at Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. My daughter arrived at your doors late yesterday afternoon and very soon after had a beautiful baby daughter.
‘Thank you for working and being wonderful [red heart emojis].’
He married third wife Nigora Whitehorn, who is 31 years his junior, in Portugal in 2017.
