Radiohead’s Thom Yorke thrills fans as he debuts haunting new song Plasticine Fingers

Radiohead’s Thom Yorke delighted fans on Wednesday as he debuted his haunting new song on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon

The singer, 51, performed Plasticine Fingers on the piano via video link- and viewers took to Twitter to describe how the eerie lyrics resonated with them amid the coronavirus pandemic. 

Yorke teased fans earlier in the day with a lyric sheet which had verses like ‘happy to serve, happy to linger, while you make up your face’.

Thom sported a grisly grey beard as he sat in his dim lit room performing the eerie track.

Viewers of the show took to social media to flood the Radiohead frontman with praise.

Yorke released his first feature film soundtrack, Suspiria in 2018, followed in 2019 by his third album, Anima. 

He was planning on touring America this spring but had to cancel it due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The band consists of Thom (vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards), brothers Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, keyboards, other instruments) and Colin Greenwood (bass), Ed O’Brien (guitar, backing vocals) and Philip Selway (drums, percussion). 

They have worked with producer Nigel Godrich and cover artist Stanley Donwood since 1994.

After signing to EMI in 1991, Radiohead released their debut single Creep in 1992. 

It became a worldwide hit after the release of their debut album, Pablo Honey (1993) and their popularity rose with the release of their second album, The Bends (1995). 

Radiohead’s third album, OK Computer (1997), brought them international fame and is often acclaimed as a landmark record of the 1990s. 

Up until 2018, the group created numerous albums and toured the globe. The following years saw further solo releases.
