‘I didn’t come here to watch this!’ MasterChef fans left annoyed as they are forced to sit through a ‘long and boring’ ingredient auction

MasterChef fans are all about action in the kitchen.

But on Thursday, the auction challenge tested audiences’ patience, with many complaining that the contestants – Callum Hann, Jessica Liemantara, Sarah Tiong and Laura Sharrad – hadn’t begun cooking 25 minutes into the show.

Plenty of viewers shared their annoyance during the ‘boring’ auction for ingredients, including one who wrote on Twitter: ‘Snore. 25mins in and no cooking.’

‘I like the idea behind the auction. But I didn’t come here to watch an auction!’ another fan shared.

‘I’m getting a teeny bit bored… it’s 20mins into show and no one has started cooking yet… it’s going to be a long night,’ someone else commented.

One vented: ‘We’re really going to sit through this countdown auction for every individual ingredient?’

But some fans enjoyed the thrill of the auction, which was being lead by guest chef Curtis Stone. One viewer tweeted: ‘They should do it more.’

‘Auction day is one of my favourites! The thrill is such a great mood booster, really gets the creative juices flowing,’ another suggested.
