Kristin Cavallari ‘believes husband Jay Cutler was attempting to withhold his money from her during their seven year marriage’

Kristin Cavallari long believed her husband of seven years, Jay Cutler, had been attempting to keep money from her, it has been reported.

In divorce documents, Cavallari, 33, accused Cutler, 37, of withholding the money she planned on using to buy her own home.

‘Kristin always knew that Jay was trying to keep some of his money from her,’ an insider told Us Weekly. ‘She suspected this for a while and found some type of proof.’

Cavallari had already been looking for a home for herself five months prior, when their marriage began to deteriorate.

They patched things up for a bit, but Cavallari continued her home search in March when things began worsening once again, this time buying the house she initially wanted back in November on April 27.

She believed Cutler was fine with the purchase, as he did not object to the prospect back in November.

However, it turns out that may not have been the case.

In court documents obtained by Us Weekly, it is claimed Cutler ‘informed her that his attorney was going to stop her from purchasing the house she wanted’ and his lawyer ‘was going to tell their business manager to not release the fund.’

Things continued going downhill after Cutler proposed Cavallari a settlement, which she refused.

The reality star believed the settlement was an ‘unfavorable’ amount to her, as she had made ‘significant financial contributions to the marital estate.’

She claims Culer took extensive measures to prevent her from purchasing the house she wanted after refusing his offer.

Cavallari felt Cutler rushed to file for divorce as a way of ‘punishing’ her for not accepting his initial offer.

The estranged couple are also clashing on custody issues over their three children, as Kristen said Cutler was making one-sided offers to her, and that it’s better for the kids if they live apart because of his tendency to ignite conflict with her.

The Very Cavallari star and Cutler, who started for the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins, share three kids – sons Camden, seven, and Jaxon, five; and daughter Saylor, four.

She told the court that she ‘fears the situation will escalate’ if they continue to be under the same roof amid the pandemic.

In her Instagram post announcing the news, the Laguna Beach beauty said the split would be a cordial one: ‘We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of.’
