Price Is Right announcer George Gray, 53, ‘seems to be improving’

The Price is Right announcer George Gray appears to be doing better after suffering three heart attacks last week.

‘George is still stable, but remains in the hospital for now. We are hoping that he will be discharged sometime midweek this week,’ Gray’s rep told Page Six on Monday.

Gray, 53, was in an ambulance when he suffered his first heart attack last Monday, followed by two more once he was inside the hospital.

The announcer ‘seems to be improving’, and ‘is lucky that he was already on the operating table when the big heart attack happened,’ his rep told Entertainment Tonight

‘George would love to thank all his friends and fans for the outpouring of love and support. He is looking forward to returning to the set of The Price As Right as soon as they come back from the pandemic hiatus,’ his rep added.

‘For now he will remain in Arizona until he is healthy enough to return to his LA home where he will continue recovery and any necessary treatment.’

The announcer is doing well mentally following the incident as well, with his rep adding to The Wrap: ‘George is recovering in the hospital and is in good spirits. His wife Brittney is by his “side,” considering the Covid-19 protocols are in effect.’

The health scare all started last Monday, when Gray woke up with chest pains that progressively worsened, according to TMZ.

After initially thinking it was indigestion, George’s wife of one year, Brittney Green, called 911, and he was placed in an ambulance – which is where he suffered his first massive heart attack.

Once at the hospital, doctors reportedly attempted to put two stents in Gray’s artery, but they failed, one after the other.

After surgery, George experienced a second major heart attack while taking a walk in the hospital.

The Missouri-born game show host and comedian was then wheeled into surgery yet again, where doctors were going to attempt placing a third stent in his artery.

But while Gray was on the operating table, he suffered a third massive heart attack, which prompted his doctors to perform a quadruple bypass.

After the operation, the perennial voice of America’s favorite daytime game show was placed in intensive care, and listed in critical condition.

By Saturday, things have started looking better, as reps for the announcer told TMZ Gray is in stable condition and is now able to talk again.

As for any pre-existing conditions that may have rendered George more at risk for such a scary bout of heart attacks, he claims it to be all genetic.

He said he’s in the best shape of his life, with low cholesterol, thereby alleviating some other common causes for heart problems.

And in a strange turn of events, Gray suggested that he owes his life to the coronavirus pandemic.

If it weren’t for the travel bans and general closures and cancellations worldwide, Gray and his new wife were in fact planning to be in Thailand on an early summer beach trip around this time.

And George feels that if he had suffered these heart attacks there, things may have ended up a lot worse for him.
