Inside Richard Wilkins’ $5million Sydney family home

Christian Wilkins celebrated his 25th birthday with a house party on Saturday.

But due to COVID-19 restrictions, the only guest was Christian’s father, Richard, and the venue was the Wilkins family home in Cremorne, Sydney.

Richard bought the property for $2million in 2004, and it’s now worth an estimated $5million following renovations, according to On the House.

Richard’s home has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and two swimming pools.

The open plan lounge and kitchen, complete with a custom-made inbuilt bookcase and library, which Richard crafted himself, creates a cosy atmosphere.

‘When I renovated the kitchen I built a big bookcase. I love having books for company and I love the colour palette they create,’ he told the Herald Sun.

‘The kitchen is the centre of the house. All the activity happens around the big stainless-steel kitchen bench. I love hanging out here and I love cooking.’

The entertainment reporter has also installed a bar that is fully stocked with spirits, mixers and wine, as well as an adjoining storage room.

Christian sat atop the bar in one photo from his birthday on Saturday, which showed him surrounded by balloon and cakes.

Richard invited actors Bryan Brown and Sam Neill for a few drinks at his bar in 2019.

‘When I’m not working, I just love nothing more than being at home, pottering around, fixing stuff, playing games and hanging out by the pool,’ he said at the time.

‘It’s a little oasis and at home, behind closed doors, it’s just us.’

The renovations didn’t stop there, with Richard spending $100,000 adding an extra floor to the property in 2016.
