Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell are making a movie based on their romance

Bindi and Chandler… the movie! Steve Irwin’s daughter and her new husband are pitching a Hollywood film based on their romance (and you’ll never guess who’ll be playing the happy couple)

They already have a hit cable TV show in America, and it seems the Irwins are now trying to break into Hollywood.

Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell are rumoured to be pitching a movie based on their whirlwind romance, according to New Idea.

The newlyweds, who married at Australia Zoo in Queensland last month, reportedly hope to play themselves in the ‘docu-style’ film.

A source said: ‘They see this as a docu-style movie starring themselves, using the tons of segments they’ve already filmed from the day they met and blending that with new footage of their life as newlyweds.

‘They know they need to be in LA to be taken seriously. They have a great love story to share the highs and the lows and many surprises that people don’t know about.’

Bindi, 21, and Chandler, 23, apparently hope to work the movie industry one day and see their wedding biopic as a way to ‘open their own production company’.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Australia Zoo for comment.

While they may have Hollywood ambitions, it’s most likely any film about the couple would air on Animal Planet and have a limited budget.

Bindi has some experience as an actress, having starred in the direct-to-video film Free Willy: Escape from Pirate’s Cove in 2010.

Her parents, Steve and Terri Irwin, also starred as themselves in The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course, which was released in 2002.

Bindi and Chandler, a professional wakeboarder from Florida, married at Australia Zoo, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, on March 25.

They made the ‘difficult decision’ to have no guests to keep the community safe during the coronavirus pandemic.

However, there was a small crew from Animal Planet present to film the ceremony, which later aired in the U.S. on April 18.

The couple paid tribute Bindi’s late father, Steve, on their wedding day by lighting a single candle at the altar after saying ‘I do’.

Steve, who was known to millions around the world as ‘The Crocodile Hunter’, died in September 2006 at the age of 44 after being pierced in the chest by a stingray barb while filming a wildlife documentary.

His widow, Terri, raised Bindi and her younger brother, Robert, now 16, as a single mother and has never remarried.
