Peter Andre calls wife Emily ‘Rudolph’ as she uses bizarre light-up hay fever contraption… and admits he’s piled on the pounds during lockdown

He recently admitted to putting on a bit of weight during the UK’s coronavirus lockdown.

But Peter Andre still insisted he was happy settling into his new family-orientated routine as he shared a video poking fun at his wife Emily trying to cure her hay fever on Saturday.

The father-of-four, 47, shared the video to Instagram which showed Emily, 30, with a bizarre contraption up her nose in a bid to relieve hay fever symptoms.

Mother-of-two Emily appeared to be enjoying a day off at home with her family in the video, after working with coronavirus patients at an NHS hospital in Surrey.

The device has a flashing light that lit Emily’s nose to a deep share of red.

‘Hmmm what song would be fitting for this’ wrote Peter.

‘How’s the pollen count? Struggling today…’ he then asked his wife as their kids began singing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

Emily joked back: ‘You’re mean to me,’ but began to dance along to the Christmas-themed carol.

Peter’s wife of five years appeared to be enjoying a well-earned day off after working tirelessly on the frontline of the coronavirus crisis.

She’s previously spoken about her personal struggle as an NHS doctor working in hospital against Covid-19.

Peter recently wrote in his OK! column about his weight gain, saying fans might not notice it because he is still training – just not as much as before lockdown.

He said: ‘I’ve been proud to put on a couple of kilos through this lockdown but it won’t be visible because I do still train.

‘Am I training as hard as I want to be training? No.

‘And my beach body’s going to be on hold now until 2035, so if people don’t mind that then I’m happy with that. But yeah I’m still exercising and it’s in my nature to do it but obviously not as much.’

Emily also spoke to OK! magazine recently to discuss her sleepless nights due to the ongoing coronavirus panic.

She explained: ‘My sleep has been terrible, but I’ve been doing mindfulness exercises on my phone and that’s really great.

‘There is a certain degree of anxiety at times because it’s such an unknown situation.

‘But the whole country is really behind the NHS, so we’re feeling a lot of love and support.’
