MasterChef fans admit the show is ‘so much better to watch’ with the new judges

‘I don’t miss them at all!’ MasterChef fans admit the show is ‘so much better to watch’ with the new judges… after Matt Preston, Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris were axed

Melissa Leong, Jock Zonfrillo and Andy Allen have just made their debut as the new judges of MasterChef Australia, after the old lineup were axed.

And it seems that fans just can’t get enough.

One viewer revealed on Facebook this week that the show is ‘much better to watch’ now that Matt Preston, Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris are gone.

‘No, don’t miss them at all. I love the new judges, the show is so far much better to watch,’ one fan wrote, when another viewer put a call out on a MasterChef page asking if anyone ‘missed’ the old judges.

Another said the new judges are ‘the freshness the show needed.’

One other commented: ‘Not me, we had 10 awesome years with them [and] now [a] fresh new approach and faces. New team are outstanding.’

Other fans said they’re loving how the new judges ‘interact with contestants’ and said the trio ‘mix and meld so good together.’

Melissa, Andy and Jock made their debut on the show earlier this month, fronting the Back to Win series.

Andy told KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O just weeks ago that the trio were told by producers to ‘just be themselves,’ after replacing the old judges.

‘The producers have been amazing in that they’re just letting Jock, Melissa and myself just be ourselves,’ Andy said.

He added: ‘They didn’t want us to step into Matt, George or Gary’s role, they were just [like], “we chose you because we want you to be you.”

Last year, Gary, Matt and George’s contracts were not renewed after 11 seasons of hosting the show.

Last July, Matt told The Daily Telegraph he learnt his contract had been terminated on Instagram after he couldn’t agree on terms with the network.

‘We were happy with what was being offered, in fact we had accepted Ten’s financial offer to make the next series of MasterChef,’ he told the publication.

‘We just failed to agree on other terms,’ he added.

At the time, Channel 10 confirmed Matt, alongside his fellow veteran judges, were not returning to the show, claiming they were unable to agree on a wage increase.
