Inside The Block stars Kara and Kyal’s dream family home at Bateau Bay

Their passion for buying and renovating homes has seen them complete more than 25 projects together. 

And now The Block stars Kyal and Kara Demmrich have given fans a glimpse at their own dream family home in Bateau Bay, on the NSW Central Coast.

The pair purchased a beach shack in the coastal area six years ago, and are building an ultra-modern pad on the land, complete with a stunning self-contained guest house at the front of the block. 

The pair – who share two young children together – have kept followers up to date of their build on their website.  

They’ve shared several images of their gorgeous guest house, which includes a luxe take on a kitchenette, a small lounge room and bedroom and even a spacious courtyard.

It features whitewashed floors and white walls, and is complete with bohemian style furnishings and skylights. 

Kara spoke to the Express Advocate about the build this week, and said the project has been ‘tricky with kids.’ 

‘It is nice to finally release the episodes for our online journal. I was a little bit nervous with everything going on at the moment, but people said that they are loving the distraction,’ she said. 

She explained that the couple decided to put in the guest house after doing the same at their Toowoon Bay property. 

‘It was one of the best things we ever did, it’s a great investment because we Airbnb it out, but also block it off for family and friends that come to visit,’ Kara said.

On their website, Kyle and Kara said their main house will have a pool and garden, and a theme of ‘Australian coastal meets Mediterranean villa.’

Talking about the style she wants for the property, Kara told Homes to Love this month: ‘The home will have four bedrooms with a master suite upstairs, a kids’ rumpus room and detached guest house.’

‘The exterior will include crisp white weatherboards, limestone and a rough white render paired with timber features.’

The couple rose to fame on The Block back in 2014.
