BBC’s Big Night In: Catherine Tate reprises her iconic role as schoolgirl Lauren as she reunites with Doctor Who co-star David Tennant

Catherine Tate reprised her much-loved role as schoolgirl Lauren Cooper alongside David Tennant during the BBC‘s Big Night In on Thursday evening.

The actress, 51, joined forces with former co-star David, 49, after first starring in Doctor Who together 13 years ago as the Doctor and Donna Noble.

During the sketch, Lauren tried to convince her long-suffering teacher that they could catch coronavirus through the computer during a Zoom call.

During the call it appeared that Lauren had turned a corner in her attitude as she revealed she had been reflecting on her behaviour while in lockdown. 

David greeted Lauren and said: ‘Morning Lauren!’

While the teenager apologised and said that she had been busy ‘doing her Tik Toks’, before adding that she was now ‘famous’ on the video app.’

Lauren then panicked and told her teacher: ‘You’re standing too close to your computer sir. You’ve got to stand 2 metres away,’

Although he tried to reassure her that you are unable to catch the virus through the computer, she added: ‘Are you Chris Witty though?

Asking for his credentials, she said: ‘Are you or have you ever been a doctor? Are you a member of the WHO? It’s not for me, I’m protecting you – yeah cos you’re old sir?’

He corrected her and said: ‘I’m 45 years old.’

While she quipped back: ‘That’s ancient sir. Are you vulnerable sir? Do you have any underlying health conditions sir? You’re Scottish sir.’

‘Did they let you shop earlier at Sainsburies? Your kilt cannot protect you!’

After David told her that she may need to reevaluate her behaviour, she said: ‘Fair enough- you make a valid point. I hear what you’re saying. I’ve had a lot of time to think during lockdown. I’ve got to stop messing about innit.’

However her change of heart was short lived as she added: ‘Am I bovvered tho? I don’t care about that. I don’t care about exams. 

After some persuasion Lauren then managed to get her teacher to a Tik Tok video with her.
