Alicia Silverstone and son Bear, 8, recreate iconic Paul and Linda McCartney PETA campaign: ‘I’ve been lucky to be an activist’

Paul and Linda McCartney famously urged fans to go vegetarian in a now iconic ad campaign.

And Alicia SIlverstone is following in their legendary footsteps along with her only child.

The 43-year-old actress and her 8-year-old son Bear Blue Jarecki joined forces with PETA as they recreated Sir Paul and Linda’s shoot from nearly 30 years ago.

The mother-and-son duo did an amazing job redoing the famous snap with one sight difference as the late Linda’s top read ‘GO veggie’ while Alicia’s said ‘GO vegan.’

Both Paul and Bear donned black T-shirts which read ‘STOP eating animals’ on them.

All four of them donned all black including blazers and pants as both Paul and Bear wrapped one arm around the shoulders of their pose partner as the other hand was placed on their own hip.

In an accompanying video posted by PETA, Alicia reflected on what it was like paying homage to Paul and his late wife.

She said: ‘I’ve been lucky to be an activist alongside him [Paul] for the last 25 years, and he’s just an incredible man and an incredible heart. 

‘I’m so sad I didn’t get to meet his beautiful wife, Linda. But doing anything in his honor is extraordinary.’

Meanwhile Alicia said it was ‘hurtful’ when she was body-shamed while in Batman & Robin.

The actress portrayed Batgirl in Joel Schumacher’s poorly received Batman movie from 1997 and Alicia admitted that taunts of ‘Fatgirl’ at the time were upsetting.

‘They would make fun of my body when I was younger. It was hurtful but I knew they were wrong,’ she told The Guardian newspaper.

 The Clueless actress added, ‘I wasn’t confused. I knew that it was not right to make fun of someone’s body shape, that doesn’t seem like the right thing to be doing to a human.’
