The star famously came in fourth place on The X Factor in 2010, the same year One Direction competed on the show.

Back in January, Cher detailed her experience on The X Factor as a vulnerable 16-year-old in an insightful new interview.

She revealed she’s still angry over the ‘reality TV baggage’ that shaped the aftermath of her time on the show and says she wasn’t prepared for the hatred she encountered.

But with her third album out soon and a settled life in America with husband Craig Monk and their 20-month-old daughter, Cher finally feels free to be herself and have the career she’s always wanted.

Detailing the horrific insults people would throw at her during her stint on the show in 2010, Cher said: ‘Would you go up to a 16-year-old girl in the street and say: “I don’t know you, but you look disgusting, with your disgusting eyebrows”?

‘That’s what people did to me.’
