Kelly Ripa reveals she cut her own hair with KITCHEN scissors as she points out grey roots live on air …but hubby Mark Consuelos rules out bangs
Kelly Ripa is not hiding anything when it comes to the issue of hair struggles under quarantine.
The 49-year-old talk show host has already been updating fans with her ‘rootwatch’ on social media, and on Monday revealed that she had gone to the extreme length of cutting her own hair with kitchen scissors to keep up appearances.
Kelly made the revelation alongside husband Mark Consuelos, 49, during Monday’s at-home episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan, from their home in New York City.

However, she did take some pride in the fact that ‘didn’t cut (herself) bangs’ to which Mark, who his stepping in Ryan Seacrest, replied: ‘I would have stopped you.’
Mark is certainly not immune to the ‘new normal’ though, as he showed off his new moustache which he has been growing throughout lockdown.
‘I’m not going to lie, I cut my own hair,’ Kelly admitted. ‘I used kitchen scissors, we obviously don’t have haircutting scissors. I cut my own hair.’

Mark added nervously: ‘I didn’t say anything, but I was ready to jump in case you went across the bang.’
Yesterday, the Live host posted a close-up of her slicked back locks to with the caption ‘#rootwatch week 5’.
Kelly revealed last week that she has resorted to using color spray to keep her natural gray at bay while self-isolating at home with her family.

She has also admitted to using some of her 18-year-old daughter Lola’s clothes for her appearances on Live With Kelly And Ryan.
‘I’ve been spraying my roots. At this point it’s all spray because my hair is all gray,’ she explained in an exchange with co-host Ryan Seacrest.

‘She watched a TikTok video on how to do hair by wrapping your hair around the bathrobe tie. And my daughter did my hair!’
‘I’m now in my daughter’s clothes,’ she went on. ‘It’s gone there.’
In addition to Lola, Kelly shares two sons – Michael, 22 and Joaquin, 17 – with her husband Mark.
