One World: Together at Home concert gives glimpses of the lavish homes owned by stars

From Los Angeles to London, pop’s biggest stars gathered virtually on Saturday to appear during Lady Gaga‘s Global Citizen One World: Together at Home concert on ABC.

But while fans tuned in for the music, they also got the chance to take a look inside their favorite artist’s luxury quarantine digs. 

And while an obvious effort had been made to downplay the opulence of the A-list mansions – there was a distinct lack of swimming pools – it was hard to hide the rather fabulous nature of their homes.

From chatshow superstar Ellen DeGeneres‘s luscious landscaping, to Elton John’s backyard basktball hoops, to John Legends’s Egot award collection, there was plenty for the nosy to admire. 

John Legend opted to perform a virtual duet on Saturday with fellow soul singer Sam Smith from the comfort of his Los Angeles home.

As the 41-year-old hitmaker pounded the keys of his grand piano to the tune of Ben E. King’s Stand By Me, he also happened to show off his extensive award collection.

The collection included countless Grammy Awards, an MTV Video Music Awards ‘moon man,’ the Golden Globe he won for Best Original Song in 2017, and more!

At a closer glance the All Of Me singer brought to light the fact that he is an EGOT.

Further in the background appeared to be Legend’s modern living area that included a lengthy grey suede coach, marble end tables, artistic lighting fixtures, and wood flooring. 

A plethora of natural light was provided by the wall of windows that lined the living room and looked out into his and wife Chrissy Teigen’s backyard. 

Smith also looked to be in his living room as his voice gracefully ebbed and flowed through the song’s melody with Legend.

The 27-year-old singer’s upstairs living space included a large plasma screen TV, a mirrored wall, and a cozy sitting space complete with plenty of grey pillows.

Various black and white portraits covered the walls, while a gold antique lamp pulled attention from behind Smith’s head. 

During her stint on the eight-hour event, Jennifer Lopez performed her own rendition of the Barbara Streisand classic People.

The 50-year-old singer sat before an impressively large tree wrapped entirely in twinkle lights, in the backyard of her Miami home.

Two candles flickered beside her as she performed the tune in a Streisand sweater and a white skirt.

Behind Lopez was an array of trees, which showed off the depth of her home’s backyard. On Instagram her fiance Alex Rodriguez explained: ‘We are beyond honored to convert our back yard to a makeshift stage so we could be a part of tonight’s ‘One World: Together at Home’ show.’ 

Billie Eilish lent her vocals to Saturday’s star-studded affair with the help of older brother and collaborator Finneas O’Connell, 22.

The 18-year-old pop music sensation performed a haunting rendition of the Bobby Hebb song Sunny from her home in Echo Park.

The Los Angeles native sat by her brother’s side as he fingered the keys on an antique organ.

Host Jimmy Fallon joked that their mother Maggie Baird must have purchased the organ for them.

The decor in this section of Eilish’s home seemed minimal – with just a mirror hanging above the organ.

As the camera zoomed out on Billie’s performance, audiences were able to sneak a peek at the Victorian style shuttered windows located to the left and right of her and Finneas.

There was also a gorgeous orchid arrangement next to Eilish, which sat atop a solid white pillar. 

While holding down the fort as host of the evening, alongside fellow late night chatty men Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon revealed the whimsical nature of his New York residence. 

The Bear In The Big Blue House inspired interior was made entirely of wood and featured a red slide that ran alongside the home’s coinciding staircase.

With two daughters, Frances, five, and Winnie, six, it is no wonder the house has such a kid-appropriate feel. 

Fallon then moved to another room in his home that featured a bamboo backdrop and diner-style seating.

Beyonce did not sing during the broadcast, but the Grammy Award-winning recording artist did deliver a passionate speech about how COVID-19 disproportionately affect African American communities.

She recorded the lengthy message from the comfort of her Bel Air mansion that has over 30,000 feet of living space with in it.

But instead of flaunting priceless art or expensive furniture, the 38-year-old flaunted the incredible view from her bedroom balcony – complete with plenty of trees and enviable sunset. 

Elton John took his famous grand piano outdoors as he performed his poignant hit I’m Still Standing. 

Though the 73-year-old music icon owns a plethora of homes across the globe, it is safe to assume that Elton used his 1960s Beverly Hills home as his performance backdrop.

Complete with brickwork, giant privacy hedges, and a cement pathway paved through the grass, Elton had more than enough space to hold down a concert. 

Aside from music making, there appeared to have been a basketball game moments prior as a basketball hoop and two balls resided in the background of Elton’s performance. 

Loved up pop stars Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes have been enduring quarantine together in an undisclosed location.

The pair performed a duet of Louis Armstrong’s unforgettable classic What A Wonderful World, while sitting at a piano, surrounded by candles. 

Whether it is a vacation home or the duo’s official love shack, the performance space had an undeniably cozy feel.

Various music instruments and recording equipment could be seen in the background, which may indicate that the pair have been using the room as a space to craft Senorita 2.0.

Lady Gaga was the brains behind the entire evening’s event and, as if coordinating duties weren’t enough, she also performed numerous times throughout the show.

Gaga – who resides in the lavish, but artsy Laurel Canyon area in Los Angeles – followed in the footsteps of many and decided to perform behind a piano.

The legendary compound that Gaga snapped up in 2016 formerly belonged to rock legend Frank Zappa.

The white baby grand appeared to reside in the 34-year-old singer’s in-home recording studio.

The cozy studio also included a cleanly office space, a white board for brainstorming, and a professional grade audio set-up.

As for the decor, the room featured a grey lounge chair that sat upon a large Persian rug.

The floor of the room had heavy art deco influence with the array of shapes and colors present throughout. 

Lizzo made sure her vocals were on full display by belting out the tune of Sam Cooke’s A Change Is Gonna Come in the company of her bathroom’s stellar acoustics.

The 31-year-old Grammy winning singer’s well lit restroom gave audiences’ a clear view of the Hollywood Hills – and Lizzo’s spacious yard. 

Oprah was the most generous of all when it came to angling her camera during her segment of the special. 

The 66-year-old Talk Show legend streamed from her in- home office, which was featured white walls, built in bookcases, and plenty of French Country inspired decor.  

The Chicago native spoke passionately and kindly of healthcare workers who have been on the front lines waging a war against COVID-19. 

Jimmy Kimmel – another member of the evening’s triage of hosts – showed off his rustic Hollywood residence. 

The 52-year-old Jimmy Kimmel Live host delivered his monologues and quips from numerous location within in his home, including what appeared to be a dimly lit living area.

Similarly to Fallon’s home, Kimmel’s walls were made of wood paneling, but the aesthetic was much moodier and included various shades of burgundy, forest green, and navy blue. 

During the show, Kimmel showed off the his house’s front yard, while accepting a food delivery from a local small business. 

The quick glimpse revealed that Kimmel lives along the infamous winding road that is Muholland Drive.

His multi-million dollar estate is expertly concealed behind a privacy wall and access can only be granted via a call box.

Idris Elba made a cameo with wife Sabrina during the broadcast, where he provided words of wisdom and hope – in wake of testing positive for coronavirus last month.

As he relayed his thoughtful words, the 47-year-old Englishman gave fans a peek at his upscale existence with his longtime love.

The house was riddled with European inspired architecture that included arched doorways and private alcoves.

Ellen DeGeneres has been frequently live streaming her quarantine antics with wife Portia de Rossi, so it was a no brainer that the chatty gal would record a few words for the Global Citizens show.

The 62-year-old host and comedian resided in a chair in her vast living room as she spoke directly to her audience.

She recently compared being holed up in her multi-million dollar Montecito mansion to that if ‘being in prison.’

But from the view out of her large and lengthy windows, her backyard looked to be flooded with greenery.  

Inside DeGeneres had various lounge chairs, a wooden desk covered in candelabras and bowls, and an indoor plant residing in a stone planter.

Pharrell Williams, 47, dropped into the stream to speak briefly about the COVID-19 pandemic and how viewers can show their appreciation to essential workers. 

The Happy creator donned a pair of dark tinted shade, while sitting on his home’s patio.

The rustic style home featured wood framed sliding glass doors and an off white exterior.  

The interior of Wiliams’ residence had a simplistic, yet exotic feel with the woven fan blades, worn tapestry, and muted toned drapes.

Taylor Swift was a bit more private, while bringing many to tears with her piano performance of her ballad Soon You’ll Get Better, which was featured on her Lover record in 2019.

The 30-year-old singer performed before a water color inspired rose backdrop that mirrored onto her cherry brown piano’s face.  

The style of her performance space looked as if it resided in her infamous NYC apartment, which features an undeniably quirky, but country aesthetic. 

Prianka Chopra – who lives with husband Nick Jonas – provided a video message to the special, which was recorded from her home’s balcony. 

The 37-year-old actress’s balcony overlooked a plethora of greenery and gave fans some perspective of the home’s numerous levels. 

Stevie Wonder performed at his iconic Piano in a performance space fit for a king.

To the right of 69-year-old music legend’s arm was a beige toned velvet curtain secured with colorful tasseled rope. 

Glistening hardwood flooring and a giant fireplace were also made visible.
