Two Pints Of Lager’s Will Mellor has tearfully announced his dad Bill has died.

The actor, 44, took took Twitter on Saturday afternoon where he shared the sad news in an emotional video, and asked his followers: ‘What do you do when you lose your hero?’.

The actor didn’t reveal his father’s cause of death in the clip, which he captioned ‘worst week of my life’, but confirmed in a later post that it wasn’t as a result of COVID-19

In the heartbreaking video filmed him in garden, Will said: He said: ‘It’s just the hardest time. It’s horrendous. What do you do when you lose your hero? 

‘I also know there are a lot of people who are going through this out there. I just want you to know I feel your pain.

‘We’ve just got to try and stick together and get through it. Try and remember the good times. If you think about my dad, remember the good times. That’s what I’m going to do, and we’ll get through this. That’s it.’ 

After sharing the video, Will’s celebrity pals rushed to send their condolences to him via social media.

Comedian Dapper Laughs tweeted a heartfelt message, writing: ‘Will, don’t know you, but losing my dad to a stroke turned my life upside down, he never got to meet my kids I felt robbed, I feel your pain with a lump in my throat.

At the star of April, Will shared a video explaining that his father had been rushed to hospital days earlier.  

The actor explained how difficult he found it having to stay away from his close family members when his father was so ill.

He said: ‘My instincts were just to get in the car and go, and you realise you can’t.

‘I can’t be there for my mum, can’t go and see my sisters… It’s just brought it all home, what situation we’re in.’

Will is best known for playing Gaz Wilkinson in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps alongside Sheridan Smith and Ralf Little, but first found fame as Jambo Bolton in Hollyoaks in 1998. 

He went on to play DC Spike Tanner in Channel 4 police drama No Offence, and most recently starred as Steve Connolly in ITV serial crime drama Broadchurch. 

Father-of-two, Will, met wife Michelle McSween in 1999 when they starred together in the stage musical Oh, What A Night. 

The couple tied the knot in 2007, and now have two children together: Renee, 12, and Jayden, 16.
