They have chosen to keep their relationship out of the limelight in recent years.

Yet Tess Daly shared a rare cosy snap with husband Vernon Kay as they showed their support for the NHS amid the coronavirus crisis.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the Strictly host, 50, looked loved-up with her other half, 45, as she rested her head on his shoulder.

The pair were clad in matching rainbow T-shirts as they prepared to take part in the weekly Clap For Our Carers campaign.

Tess penned: ‘THANK YOU NHS. While we are staying at home you are risking your lives for us on the frontline. We cannot thank you enough for your bravery hard work and kindness.

‘100% of proceeds from this charity T-Shirt by @kindred_social and #clapforourcarers go to NHS Charities Together @nhscharitiestogether.

‘Tonight at 8 we will be putting our hands together and applauding this country’s finest #nhs #nhsheroes #stayhomestaysafe xx.’

In November, Vernon was recently forced to clarify his marital status when a fan queried whether he and wife Tess had been ‘living separate lives’ due to not sharing photos of one another in recent months.

Writing underneath a picture of his daughters at the beach, the presenter was quizzed by one of his concerned followers, ‘feels like you and @tessdaly are living separate lives. I hope not. Love you guys.’

Yet Vernon was quick to hit back, as he wrote: ‘Pictures of our family life are all labelled nicely on an iPad or in Apple photo books for us to share, as a family.

‘No need to invite the world into our home life, some do, but it’s not for us. We are 100 [per cent]. Thanks for asking.’

The couple have been stronger than ever in recent years after their marriage hit the rocks in 2010, as Vernon made a public apology to his wife after a set of saucy messages to glamour model Rhian Sugden emerged.
