Anna Wintour wears sweatpants and causes a frenzy

‘OMG! Anna Wintour in sweatpants… The world is going MAD!’: Vogue icon causes a frenzy among her fans when she poses in joggers amid pandemic after saying she’d NEVER wear them

She was once famously asked if she wears sweatpants at home, to which she gave a resounding and firm ‘NO!’

But US Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour, 70, caused a frenzy in the comments section when she posed for an Instagram snap wearing jogging bottoms.

Anna had worn them in a chic fashion for Vogue’s Instagram account, teaming the red bottoms with a striped jumper as she sat at her chic desk to work from home.

And while there are bigger things going on in the world at the moment, her fans playfully noted that seeing this fashion stalwart in sweatpants did seem out of sorts.

They wrote: ‘I never imagined I would see Anna Wintour wearing sweatpants.’

‘ARE THOSE SWEATPANTS?!!!!

‘Omg Anna Wintour in joggers. The world IS changing.’

As we know her... Anna famously said she never wears sweatpants at home when asked if she ever relaxes her high-end fashion game - pictured at the Met Gala in 2019

‘Didn’t she said she never wears sweatpants:((( this corona changed to world for realz.’

And: ‘I would just like to point out that Anna was once asked if she “ever wore sweatpants at home” she said she didnt. Fashion U turn diva style!!!.’

‘I never saw this day coming… sweatpants? The world is going mad. Looking great though.’

Vogue was actually making a very important point with the post which hinted at a need to embrace sustainable fashion going forward in a bid to take better care of the environment.

It read: ‘We need to talk frankly and openly about what fashion is going through, but just as importantly, we need to start imagining what comes next.

In November, Anna  urged consumers to be more mindful of their shopping habits in order to promote sustainability in fashion and not fast fashion.

While speaking to Reuters, she said that in her view, it is more advantageous for shoppers to take better care of their garments and pass them onto others, rather than to get rid of them after a few wears.

She said: ‘I think for all of us it means an attention more on craft, on creativity, and less on the idea of clothes that are instantly disposable, things that you will throw away just after one reading.’
