Nutmeg teams up with Great Ormond Street Hospital for Junior Isa

Nutmeg teams up with Great Ormond Street Hospital charity to launch Junior Isa with a socially responsible investing option

  • Digital wealth manager partners with charity to give more choice to investors while supporting seriously ill children at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH)
  • Three investment styles available including a socially responsible option
  • Nutmeg will donate £25 to GOSH Charity for every Junior Isa opened or transferred to the company

Online wealth management platform Nutmeg has unveiled its new Junior Isa in partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital’s charity.

The firm said the launch comes as new research from the Popular Omnibus survey found six in ten adults in the UK are worried about financially supporting and saving for their family – and that the Junior Isa can ‘help give customers the children in their lives a financial head-start in life’.

The product is also designed to support the charity with Nutmeg promising to donate £25 to GOSH Charity for every Junior Isa opened or transferred to the company, while also matching customer donations made by customers up to the value of £100.

There are three investment styles available to choose from and a socially responsible option

There are three investment styles available to choose from including a socially responsible investing portfolio, a fully managed portfolio and a fixed allocation portfolio.

The socially responsible option will allow customers to invest in businesses with a focus on improving environmental, social and governance factors – a growing trend that has taken the asset management industry by storm in recent years.

The fully managed portfolio is designed for customers looking for experts to manage their child’s nest egg on a day-to-day basis, while the fixed allocation portfolio will involve automatic rebalancing and buying investments at a low cost.

The Junior Isa can be opened with just £100 and parents and guardians do not need to be existing Nutmeg customers.

Neil Alexander, chief executive officer at Nutmeg, said: ‘Putting money away for your family’s future is important to so many people. This is certainly true for our customers; as investing for children is the fourth most common investment goal for them.

‘The Junior Isa has been one of our most requested developments and will give customers the opportunity to give the children in their lives a financial head-start.’

For every Junior Isa opened or transferred to Nutmeg, the firm will donate £25 to GOSH charity while also matching donations made my customers who wish to make one, up to the value of £100.

Money raised could help the charity to fund pioneering medical research, state of the art medical equipment, support services such as the hospital’s dedicated play team or parent accommodation, and the vital rebuilding and refurbishment of the hospital.

Alexander added: ‘As a parent myself, I know you hope to never need the people, services and research carried out by the fantastic team at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

‘However, some families will. We’re incredibly proud to be supporting the work of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity as they help to ensure all children and young people have the best chance to fulfil their potential.’

Amit Aggarwal, director of corporate partnerships at GOSH Charity, said: ‘We’re really excited to be launching a partnership with Nutmeg, which has huge potential to raise vital funds and make a real difference to seriously ill children and young people who travel to Great Ormond Street Hospital for specialist treatment.

‘I’d like to thank Nutmeg for choosing to make a difference by supporting GOSH Charity.’
