Now flood victims are targeted by copycat insurance websites appearing at the top of Google searches

Flood victims are being targeted by copycat websites paying to appear at the top of results for Google searches for insurers.

One firm – aviva.insurance-claims-department.co.uk – is appearing first in smartphone searches for ‘Aviva flood claim’ — above Aviva itself.

The website says it offers accident management services ranging from personal injury to credit hire.

It doesn’t state that it’s not affiliated with Aviva.

Industry experts have warned repair work carried out by such companies may not be up to scratch.

Google says it is removing the ad following Money Mail’s intervention because it breaches its advertising rules.

It comes after Money Mail revealed last week that car crash victims were facing bills of up to £50,000 after being misled by claims management firms posing as reputable insurers.
